Pediatric Cardiology in Lucerne

About one in a hundred newborns is born with a heart defect. Thus, heart defects are among the most common congenital malformations in humans. However, the spectrum is very wide. Some heart defects are not serious from a medical point of view and do not always require immediate diagnosis or therapy. Other malformations are more serious and require surgery or cardiac catheterization in the first days of life after birth. Half of these are not serious and do not always require treatment. However, in a quarter, treatment and often surgery becomes necessary in the first year of life.

We are now offering a pediatric cardiology consultation at our location in Lucerne. We are pleased to announce that Philipp Bludau, MD (specialist in pediatrics and adolescent medicine, specializing in pediatric cardiology), will be offering pediatric cardiology examinations at our practice in Lucerne starting March 30, 2023.

In our new pediatric heart consultation, we offer the clarification and care of congenital heart defects, acquired heart diseases and cardiac arrhythmias from newborn to adolescence. This means, for example, the clarification of new heart murmurs, cardiac arrhythmias, fainting states, limitations of exercise tolerance, but also the pediatric cardiological care of chronically ill patients.

The clarification and therapy of cardiac diseases is based on the individual complaints and needs of children and adolescents and their families and is carried out in close cooperation with the attending pediatricians, family doctors, children’s hospitals and the cardiac centers.

We are able to see patients on a scheduled basis after referral from the pediatrician or family physician. We do not currently offer this service at the other sites. Please check with your pediatrician for consultation options with other providers.
