The ALSG (Advanced Life Support group) organization, which originates from England, offers the so-called APLS (Advanced Pediatric Life Support) courses in the area of pediatric training. In Switzerland, these courses must be attended in the same way as the PALS course (Pediatric Adcanced Life Support), for example, in order for a pediatrician to be able to acquire his or her specialist title. Since ALSG is mainly established in the English-speaking world, Swiss Medi Kids was able to establish itself as a center responsible for the courses in the German-speaking part of Switzerland in collaboration with Es Asur, which is based in the French-speaking part of Switzerland. At least twice a year, ES Asur, Swiss Medi Kids and ALSG offer courses at the EPI Center Zurich.
These are aimed primarily at physicians, but also at medical nursing staff. A large number of Swiss Medi Kids employees complete this course in order to be able to routinely perform life-sustaining measures in everyday emergency situations in the practice. The course is recognized by the Swiss Society of Pediatrics with 16 credits as core pediatric training.
